History of Amala
Amala Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) named after Blessed Virgin Mary, is a multidisciplinary medical network of pedagogical, therapeutic, research and outreach programmes. Amala traces its origin to Amala Cancer Hospital which was started in 1978. It is managed by the Devamatha Province of CMI Congregation founded by Blessed Cyriac Elias Chavara.
In August 1976, CMI Congregration headed by Fr. Gabriel took the trusteeship of Kerala Cancer Society for building the main hospital complex.
